What test/s do I have to take?
What's on the test?
A driving examiner will evaluate your ability to drive safely
and correctly in different driving situations which may include a
variety of speed zones.

What do I bring to the test?
I've completed the requirements, now how do I get my
P1 licence?
Your P1 licence will be issued to you on the spot when you
successfully complete the required tests and pay the licence
fee.
Once you've received your P1 licence
What does having a P1 licence
mean?
- You are now permitted to drive a car without supervision
- You must adhere to the special rules for learner drivers
Special rules for P1 drivers
- Must clearly display red P plates on front and rear of the
vehicle's exterior
- Must not exceed a blood alcohol level of 0.00%
- Cannot carry more than one passenger under 21 between 11pm and
5am
- Cannot teach a learner driver
- Must not drive certain vehicles, including those with eight or
more cylinders, and turbo or super-charged engine that is not
diesel powered
What happens next?
Once you have held your P1 licence for 10.5 months, you are
eligible to sit the
Hazard Perception Test (HPT). When you pass the HPT and have
held your P1 licence for at least 12 months, you can apply for a
P2 licence.
