More meaningful sessions
LONG, WIDE AND DEEP EXPERIENCE
Lots of driving time will help your learner driver immensely - most road safety experts strongly recommend learners get at least 120 hours of driving experience before they get their P's. But giving them a lot of different experiences in that time – by creating a variety of driving situations - will help much more.
The Keys2drive learning approach helps parents/supervisors to help provide a more thorough and meaningful learning experience, by encouraging learning that is:
- Longer providing more hours behind the wheel, and practicing correct repetition
- Wider experiencing a greater variety of driving challenges, in all conditions
- Deeper gaining a greater understanding of the psychological, emotional and mental challenges involved, and the true responsibility that each driver holds
Look over the pages for long, wide and deep experience to get a better understanding of what they mean, why they are important, and how you can use them to create a more meaningful learning experiences and plan the progression of your sessions.
SET GOALS AND WATCH FOR PROGRESS
Learning is rewarding when the progress is clear. Try setting short-term goals together that are attainable but satisfying.
Also consider keeping a journal of driving notes that you can look back on as you go. Pass on your observations of your learner’s progress at regular intervals.
